Picks For Kids: The Voice, The Revolution, and The Key by Jenny L. Cote!

Hey there, readers! Welcome back to another installment of Picks For Kids! Basically what I do here on this segment is give you all recommendations on some fun stories for young readers, as well as tell you a little bit about why I like them. There's nothing like sharing the gift of reading to children, and that's why I decided that I was going to do this segment (you can expect some more Picks For Kids posts like this one later).

Anyway, I'm going to be talking about a fun story called The Voice, The Revolution, and The Key by Jenny L. Cote! After reading some of her fantastic stories in the past, I decided that I would check one her latest books out and tell you all about it. Once again, Jenny doesn't disappoint!

So let's dive into my thoughts on this story, shall we?

What's The Story?

The Order of the Seven animal team split up and go on their next mission, and that is the birth of America. It's now up to Max, Liz, Kate, Al, and the rest of their furry friends to set out and complete the tasks that will shape the new nation. For the mission bestowed onto her, Liz must deliver an important letter that will impact the young Patrick Henry, inspiring him to become a powerful voice in the fight for independence.

Meanwhile, other members of the Seven carry out their individual tasks. Max sets out to provide protection to George Washington. Nigel sets out on his mission to help make sure that Benjamin Franklin's kite experiment that will end up impacting more than what is imaginable. Al lives in London's royal palace, gathering and retrieving information from underneath King George III. And Kate is assigned to a young Marquis de Lafayette, who is a crucial factor in the quest for independence.

Why I Loved The Voice, The Revolution, and The Key!

To start off this section devoted to why I enjoyed reading this book, I think it's fair to start by talking about how great the story itself is. Jenny's ability to tell a story and craft wonderful scenery is fantastic! Not only is The Voice, The Revolution, and The Key extremely well written, but it also covers some very important moments in history as well (teaching young readers about some crucial figures in the shaping of the American Revolution). Not only that, but there is also mystery and humor to be found within the story, too.

The book itself is told throughout the course of 25 years, and focuses on several figures throughout the American Revolution. The Order of the Seven, a team of animals who carry out different tasks throughout history, set out on their missions to help several people who will all eventually help shape the nation in different ways. Among these people include Patrick Henry, Benjamin Franklin, and several other familiar faces.

Then we have all of the awesome characters that you'll find throughout the book. Not only do we have all of the historical figures that I previously mentioned, but there is also a great cast of animal characters. As always, we have Max, Liz, and the rest of the team. We also have Gillamon and Claire, two spiritual animals who can both engage with humans because of their abilities to take on any shape or form. And then there's also Cato, an eagle who helps the Seven get around at times.

And last but not least, we have all of the historical details that were incorporated into the story. Not only is it entertaining, but it also provides the readers with throughly-researched historical details about what life was like during an important time in the shaping of America. Trust me when I say that Jenny makes learning about history fun for children of all ages!

In Short...

Jenny L. Cote does it again, everybody! If you're looking for a fun historical story to give to a young reader you know, I definitely suggest checking out The Voice, The Revolution, and The Key. It's engaging, inspiring, educational, and a fun reading experience for just about everyone. Can't wait for more grand adventures with these characters!
